“Eskimo Dream”, 22" x 29" x 1", acrylic on hand carved basswood, 1997

I did this piece when I lived in Olympia WA in 1997. It was influenced by the overcast skies and the salmon runs.


The man in the boat is painted just like the Sockeye in the water (white beard, green face, and red jacket). It is a ‘nod’ to the relationship between man and the food he eats. And specifically represents how indigenous cultures worship(ed) their main animal food source  and how they saw their lives as literally intertwined.
