Scott McNeill Art • multidimensional painted relief sculpture, “Meaning of a Flower”

“The Meaning of a Flower”, 20" x 44" x 1", acrylic on hand carved mahogany

This carving was inspired from a Joseph Campbell lecture.  He told the story about a sermon the Buddha gave, where, in front of a large gathering he said nothing but simply lifted a flower.

Underneath the painting of sunflowers I carved the well known M.C. Escher design of interlaced angels and devils.
